• Steps Toward Calling a Pastor

  • Call an Interim Pastor

  • Participate in a season of self-reflection and introspection

  • Conduct a Mission Study

  • Prepare a Mission Study Report and refer it to the Commission on Ministry (COM)

  • Receive permission from the COM to elect a Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC). This occurs simultaneously with COM approval of the Mission Study Report.

  • Call and conduct a congregational meeting to elect a PNC

  • Elect a PNC and have the PNC trained by the liaison from the COM

  • Prepare a Ministry Information Form (MIF)

  • Receive permission from the COM to post the MIF and post it. The Presbytery Pastor works with the Chair of the PNC and the Clerk of Session with this.

  • PNC will develop an interview process with help from GA resources

  • PNC will receive and review Personal Information Forms (PIF’s) from prospective candidates

  • PNC and presbytery will check references on possible candidates

  • PNC will bring the top candidate(s) to Tucson for interview, preaching in a “neutral pulpit”, and approval from the COM

  • PNC will select a nominee

  • Schedule a congregational meeting to vote on the nominee

  • Hold the congregational meeting

  • If the nominee is approved in the congregational meeting, sign the call
